With clarity, Jon unpacks how the bigoted and hateful folks on the Boulder City Council really feel about peaceful, law-abiding gun owners. Rather than outright grabbing the guns, they see this step as a “compromise” by creating a full-fledged government watch-list of innocent citizens.
“Why is this important to me, I don’t live in Boulder?” Because, as Jon explains, this is being driven by well-funded, national gun-grabber leftists who are using Boulder as their model and launch site. If it passes in Boulder, it’s spreading. No community is immune once this idea takes hold, not yours, and not mine. And because courage is contagious. Let it infect you.

Boulder City Attorney Tom Carr has drafted his definition for “assault weapon” as follows:
• All semiautomatic rifles that have the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and that have any of the following characteristics: a pistol grip or thumbhole stock; a folding or telescoping stock; or any protruding grip or other device to allow the weapon to be stabilized with the non-trigger hand.
• All semi-automatic center-fire pistols that have any of the following characteristics: the capacity to accept a magazine other than in the pistol grip or any device to allow the weapon to be stabilized with the non-trigger hand.
• Any firearm that has been modified to be operable as an assault weapon as defined by the city, plus any part or combination or parts designed to convert a firearm into an assault weapon.

Your ill-advised “assault weapon” ban will make Boulder a softer target and more susceptible to mass murder while you violate the US Constitution and further violate the rights of good, law-abiding, self-reliant citizens while encouraging their exodus from The People’s Republic of Boulder and increasing the ratio of dependent Marxist parasites.
Potential mass murderers will still be able to easily obtain whatever firearms you restrict as well as using cars, trucks, explosives, arson, knives, clubs and other firearms to commit their heinous deeds. If someone wants to kill other people, is any law going to deter them? It has been proven not to.
In the Middle East, since our soldiers are much better shots with better rifles, the muslim terrorists try to avid gun fights and instead rely on improvised explosive devises which have much worse effects. They blow up school busses and commit similar atrocities. You will be, in your own small way, encouraging this type of escalation from the sociopaths. The Boston bombers had been identified by many sources including even the Russian KGB. The threat was ignored because they were a protected immigrant class.
Mass murders have always been identified in advance. This is where you need to focus your efforts. Take them off the streets in advance when they commit their preliminary crimes or exhibit conclusive evidence of being a psychopath and a clear danger to themselves and others. The “politically correct” approach that thrives in Boulder leaves these dangerous criminals running free until the commit the very worst of crimes.
In regard to effective self-defense, some ill informed “progressives” ask “Why would anyone need an ‘assault weapon” or high capacity magazine?” Statistics have show that, over decades, the theoretically well trained police hit their assailant 15% of the time in a gun fight. It generally takes several hits from a handgun to disable a criminal. There are usually multiple attackers in most home invasions, street assaults and robberies etc. So, by simple math, 3 attackers at 4 hits each will require 12 or more bullets hitting them to stop the attack and this will require 80 rounds to be fired at a 15% hit ratio. Hard to do this with a more politically acceptable five round revolver.
What if MS-13 gang members. Arab terrorists, ANTIFA rioters, attack my mother? My daughter? With a semi-automatic AR-15 (the same rifle we use for predator control on our ranch), which they (and lots and lots of regular citizens) have proven that they can use with much greater accuracy and effect then is required to pass any law enforcement or military qualification test, they will survive. Without such a defensive weapon they will be killed.
The foregoing challenges all the malarkey you hold dear but challenge yourselves to look around and think clearly. The leftist “feel good/ do bad” approach never works but good old American freedom and self-reliance always makes life better for everyone.
Labeling: The worst mistake that can and is made in labeling, or to be more exact to properly identify a Leftist or Liberal is to not call them by their proper and most formidable title in truth and that would be the title of “COMMUNIST”, not liberal or left-winger but in truth, Communist.
I have never actually met a liberal… met a whole lot of totalitarians though.
